A downloadable game for Windows

This is my third entry for my game a week challenge. Here's a little post-mortem. Hope you'll like it :)

Idea

Fez and Paper Mario were the two main inspirations for this week’s challenge. I also decided to make pixel art using the game boy palette.

What went well

I had a lot of things to do this week for my work, and so I decided to simplify the mechanics in order to finish the game on time. Thanks to these simplifications, implementing this game was pretty straightforward and, even though I didn’t have a lot of time, I like the final result.

What went wrong

Apart from the fact that I wanted to reproduce Fez’s world rotation mechanic, I didn’t have a clear idea of what I wanted to do. So I ended up implementing random stuffs and adding them to the level.

What I learned

I continued on learning pixel art. I also learned how to use the depth buffer in order to render occluded objects. For my next games, I’m going to continue on exploring the world of game art, especially 3D modeling and materials.
